  • Accessible Faith: A Technical Guide for Accessibility in Houses of Worship by Elizabeth A. Patterson & Neal A. Vogel for The Retirement Research Foundation. The 50-page national guide is designed to help congregations navigate building-related code requirements for accessibility; identify design solutions for common physical, auditory and visual barriers; and provide technical guidance on planning, financing, contracting and incorporating access into houses of worship. An Illinois supplement provides an overview of that state’s requirements and how they pertain to Illinois houses of worship. Both guides may be downloaded from The Retirement Research Foundation Web site or purchased for a nominal fee from Partners for Sacred Places.
